The Latin American Association of Tissue Banks congratulates Dr. Marisa Herson Romo on receiving the 2025 WUTBA Award; the highest global recognition given to tissue donation, banking, and transplant professionals.

The WUTBA Award is presented by the World Union of Tissue Bank Associations (WUTA), which includes the tissue bank associations of the USA (AATB); Latin America (ALABAT); the European Association of Tissue and Cell Banks (EACTB); the Asia-Pacific Association of Tissue Banks; and the Australian Association of Tissue Banks.

The distinction was awarded for Dr. Herson's commitment to and dedication to tissue donation, transplant, and banking programs, which she has worked on and promoted in Latin America, Australia, and in global organizations such as WUTBA and the WHO. She was a founding member of ALABAT in 2002.
